I am sitting in my dorm room with Stephen's debit card in my possession. I have had it for 3 days now, and he didn't realize I had it until about an hour ago.
Before you label me a klepto, it's Callis' fault. You should not be surprised. When something goes wrong, it's always his fault. When I break a nail, it's his fault. When they run out of sweet cream at Marble Slab, it's his fault.
On Sunday, I was talking with Callis when he tells me he has a present for me. He reaches into his pocket after shiftily glancing around, looking very much like a drug dealer. Then he hands me Stephen's debit card. It had fallen out while Stephen had been looking in his wallet, and Callis had picked it up right in front of him without even noticing. He related this tale to me with an air of triumphant glee while I roll my eyes at such childishness, all the while knowing perfectly well it sounds just like something I would do.
I didn't want to take it at first. "What if I forget to give this back to him and I end up skipping back to my dorm room before he realizes it's gone?"
Callis shrugs and says something along the lines of "It'll be his own fault."
Gee, Callis, your overflowing compassion is awe-inspiring...
Knowing how it feels to have a missing debit card, I stuck the card in a safe place in a purse with every intention of giving it back to Steven as soon as I got the chance.
....Fast forward to Wednesday. I'm checking my email when I get a desperate email from Stephen, asking for his debit card. You should've seen my face. "Oh, crap..." I said. I had completely forgotten about it. Then I started laughing. I was still laughing when I left a message on his phone. He's on his way to get it now.
So, I'm not that blameless. But it's still mostly Callis' fault.

So you're the reason I had to pay for his dinner the other night, eh?
