Man, I love the girls in my Bible study. You know how when you get a bunch of girls together and they get excited, their voices'll steadily climb octaves in a chromatic scale of girliness?
"Oh, that's awesome! I love it!"
"Aww, that's so sweet!"
"It was really good seeing you tonight, girl!"
"I know! It was really good seeing you too!"
Of course, our conversations have more substance than that (although there's a lot of girly scale-climbing going on...and giggling). We talk about everything- what we're learning, how life's going, our problems. Even our Bible study leader, Sara, is more like our best friend. I don't mind hanging out with her just because.
Our group is interesting for 2 reasons:
1. There's a Christa, a Kristie, and a Kristin. It took me forever to get the right name with the right person, but I always knew which three were Chris-somethings, so I'd say the last syllable really quiet and fast...:D
2. Our group includes a singer for CRU (Christa), a singer for BCM (Erika), and a singer for the Shack (me). We all decided to step up and offer our talents to the different ministries we were involved in, but not at the same time. I think that's a sure sign that God threw us together for a reason.
I love how our group is so...unabashedly feminine. It's hard to explain, but I really feel like we delight in ourselves as women of God when we're together. I love how I can giggle and talk about crazy girly stuff and be completely vulnerable, wearing my heart on my sleeve and pouring it out sincerely for the other girls, and still feel safe. We're there for each other. The girls in my group are the definition of Captivating girls (yes, I have finally given into conformity...every woman and her cousin is reading that book...and for good reason. It's awesome :) ). They're decidedly feminine, but they all have this inner strength that makes them beautiful inside and out. It's really encouraging to me to just watch them live out their lives and be able to share a little bit of it with them.
Oh yeah, afterwards, Julie, Andrea, and I went out to Starbucks. Can you say Chai Eggnog Latte? It was awesome, although I referred to it as "murderous chai". The ginger was so spicy, my mouth was a little numb afterwards. It was great. I like making my mouth numb (says the lover of jalapeno potato chips and buffalo wings).
You know how a song gets stuck in your head and you keep singing it over and over? Julie and Andrea wouldn't stop singing my song in the car. The song that I wrote. That made me quite happy, I have to admit.
Either that, or I have finally written a cult song and am unwittingly brainwashing the masses. Bwa ha ha ha...yes, it may all be part of Poddy's plan for ultimate world domination. I am but a pawn in its insidious plot... :D
