My Favoritest 2006 Grammy Moments (hee)

Kelly Clarkson- what an aw moment when she got her award, and she did such a beautiful job with her performance. I was like, "I voted for you!!! Even when all my friends said Justin's gonna win...I stayed truuuue!!!" It was cool cause there was an orchestra backing her up...and it was all made up of kids. And then when she got best pop album for Breakaway, she was genuinely shocked, like, "OMG, I can't believe I got ANOTHER one!"

Alicia Keys' and Stevie Wonder's impromptu duet while presenting female pop vocal. That was like my dream come true...hee.

John Legend- simply awesome. His voice reminds me of someone singing a solo at church, really smooth. I'm a big fan. He did a great job.

Mary J. Blige and U2- interesting, to say the least. Mary and Bono don't sound half bad together.

Paul McCartney saying, "I want to rock a little bit." He doesn't rock as hard as he used to, but his voice is still as cool as it was 40 years ago.

U2's acceptance speech for best rock album- awesome. You could totally tell it was impromtu, but it was insightful in a really unassuming way.

Madonna and Gorillaz at the beginning...weird. It was strange seeing CG Gorillaz for the first time...and the bassist had on a cape and white briefs. That's it. But I got to give props to Madonna for all that jumping around and not being out of breath at ALL. I've heard the song, and I can vouch...that was not lipsyncing.

Coldplay's Chris Martin running around the aisles then cueing the rest of the band to this awesome instrumental in true rock-star fashion..yusss.

Best Rock Album- had to decide between U2 and Coldplay. AAAAAHHHH...the humanity!

Best R&B Performance- had to decide between Jamie Foxx and John Legend..but it was awesome that John Legend got the award. I was happy.

Mariah Carey- had CLOTHES ON. Sure, it was lowcut...and most of her skirt was totally see-through...and it had a slit in it...but it was a FLOOR-LENGTH dress. A miracle in itself. But jokes aside, she killed it as always. That girl can sing, no doubt about it. She's got an extra octave of range that normal people just don't have. Then she sang a gospel song...with a choir. She said beforehand that singing is a very spiritual thing for her. Probably why she went with the long dress...I'm just saying.

On the other side of the spectrum...Teri Hatcher had NO clothes on. Her dress was completely see-through. You could see her black underwear. I'm a girl, and I felt uncomfortable.

Maroon 5, Ciara, Fantasia, Black-Eyed Peas, Steven Tyler, John Legend, Joss Stone...all on one stage, singing Sly and the Stones songs. Then Sly comes out for the first time in 19 years, sporting a white mohawk... Only at the Grammys.

Jay-Z and Linkin Park. I was so psyched when they got the Grammy for best rap collaboration, and they performed together too. Then Paul McCartney comes out and starts singing with them...I totally didn't expect that. :D

But my favorite performance had to be Kanye West and Jamie Foxx doing "Gold Digger". It was cool. Kanye and Jamie were dressed up as drum majors, and they each had their own drumline. They marched up from the aisles, and then Jamie says on stage, "And now it's time for the national anthem... She take my money-" And then everybody started screaming. A dance team came out at one point, and then a group of frat boys... Broke Phi Broke. The leader said, "Assume position" and they pulled out their empty pocket linings. And then they started stepping. Kanye and Jamie topped it off in pastel suits with a small strings section. You'd expect that kind of pageantry from Kanye West, though. He's kinda full of himself, but I gotta admit, that guy's an entertainer, definitely.
