I survived...!

I've spent the last few days studying at a blistering pace for today's weekly test in Japanese. This week was a "review" of Level 1, but as the book I used at USC didn't get into half of the things this system did, I basically had to learn a textbook's worth of kanji, grammar, and vocabulary in three days.

I seriously thought I wasn't going to make it.

But somehow, when I got in class this morning, everything made sense. Even though I was one of the last people to finish, I definitely knew what I was doing. So I have hope. I just needed to catch up, that's all.

I had this weird thing called oyako-don yesterday...it's chicken, egg, and onions over rice. ...The chicken looked quite dubious, and the egg was soggier than I thought it'd be, but it was good. Some people and I made curry a few days ago, but it was more like stew cause we kept dumping all this stuff in there. Then we had an Ouran High School Host Club (anime) marathon....fun times.

It turns out there's panels in the ceiling that open up, and people stuff things in there, so last night a lot of us went through our ceilings, seeing what we would find. A guy seemed to live before us, because we found two pairs of shorts and a comforter in a manly plaid pattern, along with unused cleaning supplies, a boogie board, and flip-flops with smiley faces. Oh, yeah...and a lot of trash and beer bottles too. The legal drinking age here is 20, but most establishments and supermarkets don't bother to card you, so I could probably waltz over to the convenience store and buy some beer if I wanted to. ...Of course, the last thing I need is a hangover in the morning when I have to study.

Oh, I saw something that made me happy the other day. I was in Beisia (too lazy for the upside down e), and I saw the most beautiful thing...

Oreos. Real Oreos.

I shed a tear.
