I feel like a big girl today. I spent my first Easter away from my family. I missed the stylish suits in pastel colors and toothless kids lisping "Happy Ether Day" in church, but my Easter was still so awesome. We went to this church called Tommy's Interactive, and it was really interesting. The guy doing service was from Peru. His name was Abe, and he had some really cool things to say. He talked about home. Where is home for me? It's in Springhill, having long conversations at the kitchen table with my mommy. It's also at the Shack, laughing out loud with and loving friends.
Afterward, we had communion and an Easter egg hunt inside the Shack. Since I suck at Easter egg hunts, I opted to help hide them. Eggs went inside dirty socks, Garrett's blue tennies, the hollowed-out insides of oranges....yeah, that was fun. And then I ate several Marshmallow Peeps. Even though I hate Marshmallow Peeps, I enjoy ripping off the heads of the marshmallow bunnies, so I eat them anyway. After collapsing for several minutes, I helped clean up to incredibly loud rock music, so Michael Finlay had a very...voluminous welcome back from his stay at home. He was rather nice about it.
Just having the chance to celebrate Easter in a new way was so cool. I guess I appreciated the simplicity of it. This year I got to look past the chocolate bunnies and swirly pastel prettiness. And the decapitated marshmallow bunnies. And past that, I saw Jesus, plain and simple. And it's because of that thatI do believe this is the happiest I've ever been on Easter in my eighteen years of life on this earth.
