I keep forgetting to blog about this...it was so cool, though.
On Friday morning, I dragged myself out of my apartment and opened the door to look out on the Horseshoe...
...and there was a snowman on the lawn.
Seeing as how it's February, this might not seem so amazing...but this is South Carolina. On this particular day, it hit 60 and the sun was shining just as proud as could be.
But there was a snowman on the lawn.
I'm not sure what it was made of...but it looked just like a real snowman. Someone put a red scarf around it and a black hat on its head. People walked over to marvel at it all day. A group of little kids were on an outing, and they were enamoured with it. (Of course, two little boys were kicking it...just like little boys do.) People were taking pictures with it all day.
On Saturday morning, when I dragged myself out of my apartment to get a bagel and looked out on the Horseshoe...
...the snowman was gone. But there was a small pile of white stuff marking the spot where it had been. It made me smile. I guess that was a very fitting end for it- to disappear as mysteriously as it appeared. But it made a lot of people happy. I think that's what I liked the most about it.
